Family Tree Builder

We will build your basic family tree from scratch at WikiTree

This Service Includes:

  • Starting your tree from scratch or adding on to your partial tree.
  • Building your tree at WikiTree (see Why WikiTree below). We will also build your tree simultaneously at your choice of Ancestry.com or FamilySearch.org if you choose.
  • Recommendations for further research.
  • Recommendations on how to take advantage of WikiTree’s free community help and collaboration.
  • This service is not for breaking down brick walls (in other words, you already have a tree, but are stuck in your research).

How This Works

  • You will need to create a free account at WikiTree in order for your tree to be built there.
  • We will build a basic tree with the main couples in each generation as far as we can go or to at least the 2nd great grandparent generation. If we can’t get more than two or three generations, we will fill in more information on the profiles created and add profiles for children in each generation.
  • We will discuss privacy preferences before beginning the research.
  • Once the tree is finished, you can seek free help at WikiTree to see if other members can help you with further research. You will be given information on how to do this.
  • You may want to create a free account at FamilySearch.org in order to see some of the documents linked on profiles at WikiTree. It is also a great place to further your research since it’s free and they have millions of viewable documents.

Why WikiTree?

  • WikiTree is 100% free!
  • WikiTree is a one-world tree. This means everyone descended from the same ancestor share one profile for that ancestor. Because we are all connected in this way, WikiTree has a feature called the Connection Finder which allows you to see how you are related to anyone in the tree once you are connected to it.
  • Because of the collaborative environment of WikiTree, families (and even strangers!) help each other further their family research. And did we mention this is all free?
  • There is oversight at WikiTree. That means people can’t blaze through the website and make a mess of profiles, add bad genealogy to your family profiles, or undo the work we’ve completed. Or if they do, they will be reprimanded and the changes can be reverted back to the original content with the click of one button.
  • WikiTree has several privacy options for all profiles for family members up to 150 years old.

FAQs

This tree building service costs $59 an hour. There are no minimum hours to purchase. Contact us to discuss a discount for purchasing larger blocks of time.

The $29 Quick Start is for starting a tree in one hour for the purpose of setting up someone’s tree. Once that hour is over, the service is complete. This service is for ongoing tree building as far as we can take your tree.

It is difficult to know as each tree is different. However a good estimate is 10 hours to complete a basic tree from scratch.

Our goal is to build your tree to at least the 2nd great grandparent level on each line. If slavery is in your family history, we will set you up for the possibility of making the connection to your enslaved ancestors. If the records are available, we will go past the 2nd great grandparent generation. Please note: This is meant to be the beginning of a family tree–set up and ready for future deep research.

We will leave that for you to do. As often as possible, we will add links to documents so you can look at them yourself and write a biography from the information they contain.

Yes! However, you will need to open a free account at WikiTree and be the first person in the tree. Your family members can also open free accounts and connect their profiles to your tree.

Let us show you what's possible!
